Our memory is not only held in the brain but also in the body.
Everything we experience in life, good stuff and bad, is stored on a cellular level in our body including our skin, muscles, tendons and nerves.
When we go through challenges in life, the first thing we do is try to understand what’s happening to us in order to reclaim some healthy control and diminish our suffering. It’s an important first step, because without understanding we can not put life back in to perspective or manage our thoughts and feelings to stabilise ourselves.
What we often forget is that the challenging event is also stored in our body and can cause all sorts of problems without us being aware of it. We are not really used to connecting mind and body on a conscious level, so we often believe we have done the healing work when we understand it, yet we are still suffering and don’t know why.
On The Bridge Retreat we work with a holistic model. Body work is an important part of the experience, because we know that trauma gets locked in the body. When we understand what happened to us, and emotionally release the pain, then it’s time to integrate the body and use techniques to free the body from any tension and trauma so we can really move on.
In the upcoming workshop on the 10th of January, The Bridge Facilitator & Psychologist, Frederique Bicker, will take you on an embodied healing experience. In three hours together you will explore your body and mind connection and learn how you can shift from understanding your issue to also unlocking the related stuck energy held in the body.
You can work on a personal block, pattern or issue and Frederique will guide you to raise awareness around what the issue is really about, and then use a blend of imagination, visualisation, breathing, tapping, shaking and meditation to unlock and move the stuck energy from your body.
After 3 hours you’ll be able to use these simple techniques to support yourself in moving through your challenges in life.
